چکیده مقاله |
Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that convert the chemical to electrical energy. The use of alkaline solutions in a fuel cell has many advantages such as increasing its efficiency, a wider selection of possible electrode materials and a better efficiency of oxygen cathode. In this research, the effect of various surface treatment on the electro-catalytic behavior of nickel electrode and promoting this behavior for the oxidation of ethylene glycol in sodium hydroxide was investigated using the electrochemical method included cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and impedance spectroscopy. The main purpose is promotion of electro-catalytic electrode of nickel usable as an anode in the fuel cell, wich is applied in many industries like military, automotive and aerospace. Electrochemical oxidation of ethylene glycol with different concentration on the surface of the nickel electrode was studied in the sodium hydroxide solution. Also, the constant rate of ethylene glycol oxidation and diffusion coefficient of ethylene glycol was analyzed in the alkaline solution. The result show that ethylene glycol oxidation is increased in higher concentration of the alcohol. This promoted electrochemical activity depends on increasing the concentration of surface molecules or intermediates. |
