چکیده مقاله
Considering the large consumption of the carbon steel in different industries and the importance of its protection against corrosion, in the present research it has been attempted to proposed an effective method for protection of the carbon steel ST12 against corrosion. Epoxy resin was employed due to its desirable properties such as high ionic and barrier resistance. Moreover, zinc phosphate inhibitive pigment was used in the coating formulation due to its accepted corrosion inhibition properties. To achieve high barrier resistance, organically modified nano-silica (Aerosil) was used in the coating. The optimum nano-silica concentration was also investigated for obtaining the best anti-corrosive and durability properties of the coating. In order to investigate the anti-corrosive properties of the nanocomposite coatings, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, salt spray and immersion tests were used. It was shown that the simultaneous use of inhibitive and nano-sized barrier pigments creates nano-composite coatings with desirable anti-corrosive and mechanical properties
