چکیده مقاله
Water is the most important material in the world. In most industries, water is the base of the production process and can affect the quality and quantity of the production, directly or indirectly. For example, in the textile industry for washing, dying, bleaching and other processes the water consumption is very high. According to annual reports, 7 × 108 kg of dyes are used for textile consumption while the average amount of 2.8× 108 kg enters to sewage. These pollutants contain 8000 types of dyes and 6900 types of chemicals and salts, so these dyes, together with the toxic substances, would also bring other serious threats to the environments and human health, Therefore, it is essential to treat the wastewater before discharging to environment and returning of it to the production cycle if possible [1-3].
In this research, the titanium electrode surface which was modified with NiCl2.6H2O, SbCl3 and SnCl2 salts by the electrodeposition was used as a working electrode. The most important variables for electrode modification such as the ratio of salts and time of deposition were optimized. Then constant current colometry (CCC) in a two-electrode system was used for degradation dye. Some parameters such as current density, initial concentration, and time were optimized and finally the kinetics of dye degradation was investigated. Absorption spectra before and after dye degradation were investigated and dye removal percentages evaluated. The results showed that by Surface modification, removing dye with A current density of 20 mA cm-2 for 30 min can remove dye with an efficiency of more than 97%. Based on the results electrochemical degradation can be used as a useful method for removing dyes from textile wastewater or water contaminated with this dye.
